[Closed Event] NYC Blockchain Center hosts Blockchains For Schools Initiative
July 12 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm EDT
On July 12th NYC Blockchain Center will be hosting Blockchains for Schools Initiative. The event event will be a kick off event for Blockchains for Schools Summer Immersion Program that places high school students (age 15-18) interested in blockchain technology in internships with blockchain companies and startups in NYC.
Founded in 2018, now with an outreach to more than 5,000 high school students, this program allows students interested in blockchain and cryptocurrency to experience the blockchain space and community through mentorship. These mentors consist of software engineers, business executives, researchers, and investors who are actively working within blockchain industry at companies like Google, McKinsey, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Yahoo, Forbes, Ethereum, Consensys, Livepeer, and ThoughtWorks. Blockchains for Schools has recently received a grant from the Ethereum Community Fund.
This event is meant to be a taste/dive into the blockchain industry by allowing students to interact with various players in the blockchain space. As the interns are also seeking to strengthen their professional skills, the event will focus on aiding that development through connecting students to resources that would help with resume review, pitching, and general networking.
